Caterpillars

Welcome to Caterpillars

Autumn Term 1

Caterpillars class have enjoyed learning all about plants this half term. We can label and explain the basic function of different parts of a plant, we can tell you which parts of the plant we can eat and we can identify and compare different trees.

In art Caterpillars have been learning about African culture and the history of African masks.

Autumn Term 2

In Forest School, we’ve been developing our woodworking skills by practising how to drill holes in wooden disks. We will  be using the disks to make beautiful Christmas tree decorations, which will be on sale on our Enterprise Week stall.

Spring Term 1

We started the new year with a fantastic Creative Arts Week, where pupils collaborated to create a whole-class collage inspired by Henri Rousseau's Tiger in a Tropical Storm. The pupils examined Rousseau’s painting up close using magnifying glasses before experimenting with paint techniques to create a variety of textured papers. Once dry, they tore the paper into pieces and carefully arranged them to form a stunning collage of Rousseau’s tiger.
