Squirrels

Welcome to Squirrels

In Year Two this term we have been practising our hockey skills. We started by practising how to hold a hockey stick safely and pass the ball accurately. We then moved on to stopping and dribbling in and out of cones. We have also been lucky enough to have a scooter skills visit where the children were taught all about road safety when using a scooter. An exciting part of this half term has been our book week activities where we looked at the book ‘Dear Earth’ and thought about all the things we love about our planet. On the Thursday of this week we all dressed up and spent some quality time in our reading den to enjoy the different types of books we have in the school.

In the run-up to Christmas, we visited the Sparkfish Christmas Journey, which took place at Redhill Methodist Church. First we learnt a song which we sang during the journey. Following that, we went on our own journey, visiting different parts of what Christians believe is the Christmas story.

In our first term in year two we did lots of exciting learning inside and outside of the classroom. In class we have been retrieving lots of different maths strategies for adding and subtracting. In writing we began learning about twisted fairy tales, including stories about wolves. We are all very keen to share our ideas with the class! In forest school we explored the outdoor area and began to think about the signs of Autumn. Finally in P.E we learnt all about our agility and how it can affect our speed and balance.
